Cubs News: Ian Happ on Wrigley's weather during early games: 'Awful'

by - Senior Editor -

The weather was rather nasty to say the least in the first month of the season at Wrigley Field.

Cubs outfielder Ian Happ was interviewed in studio on Wednesday with Alex Wallace of the Weather Channel.

“We get perfect weather in Arizona spring training, we open up this year in Miami — perfect weather — and then we head home and we’re playing in snow and sideways rain; Wrigley’s wind. So that’s always awful, but it’s worth it because the summer in Chicago is perfect.”

Happ shared that he likes the schedule to stay intact and not play a bunch of doubleheaders.

We’ve got one coming up in Cincinnati this weekend – we have a doubleheader because of rain previously. Those are always tough. You like to keep the schedule as normal as you can instead of playing 18 innings in one day.”

For the season, Happ is batting .233 with five homers and 14 RBIs.
