Ian Happ ready for big season for the Cubs

Ian Happ is one of the young core of positional players that the Chicago Cubs for 2018 and beyond.

The 23-year old was at the Cubs convention and spoke about the upcoming season.

"A little bit different than last offseason knowing when you’re going to spring training, you’re going to really get better and mesh with the guys and get ready for the season,” Happ said of his offseason. “As opposed to last year, it was kind of proving at some point I could help the team.

Be ready to help in any way I can,” Happ said.

“I want to help the team every day,” he said. “Help the Chicago Cubs win baseball games. That’s always my main goal.”

In 2017, Happ batted .253 with 24 homers, 68 RBIs, and .328 on-base percentage. He showed off his versatility by playing four games at third base, 14 games at right field, 29 games at left field, 44 games at second base, and 54 games at center field.

He was drafted by the Cubs in the first round with the ninth overall pick of the 2015 MLB Draft.
