Cubs News: Javy Baez MRI update on his hamstring

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs second baseman Javy Baez injured his left hamstring area against the San Diego Padres on Thursday afternoon.

The team trainers helped him off the field, and Chesny Young came into the game to replace him.

The hamstring is not 100 percent according to manager Joe Maddon.

"It's still there (hamstring issue), and it's still bothering him a little bit, so we're still trying to figure out exactly what's going on."

Baez had a precautionary MRI on his hamstring and Maddon said on Saturday afternoon that the results were OK.

"It's very minimum," he said. "This is a precautionary tale right now."

"[I told him] 'Take your time, be careful, but if you feel good enough, I'd like to see you out there moving because you're really clicking right now and you don't want him to lose that feel,'" Maddon said.

Baez is expected to be sidelined with the injury until at least Tuesday.
