Javy Baez injured against Padres

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs second baseman Javier Baez had a two-run double in the second inning to put the Cubs up 3-0 against the Padres.

However, tough news to report for Cubs fans as Baez was rounding first base to stretch out his double, he reached down towards his left hamstring area. It appears that it might have a tweaked hamstring injury.

Baez had to leave the game with the help of a trainer, and Chesny Young has come into the game to replace him.

The Cubs will update his status shortly, and we will update his condition as soon as we hear.

Hopefully, this is not a serious injury, and they made him leave the game for precautionary measures. Regardless, there is some time for him to get healthy and the Cubs have several infielders that can take up the slack if needed with Ian Happ, Ben Zobrist, and Tommy '3A' La Stella.

Update: Cubs official announced that Baez is being evaluated for left hamstring tightness and is currently being evaluated by doctors.

Update 2: Baez said he is fine and the injury was just a hamstring cramp because of dehydration.
