Cubs News: Javy Baez injury update |
Chicago Cubs second baseman Javy Baez was rounding first base to stretch out his double and injured his left hamstring area against the San Diego Padres on Thursday afternoon.
The team trainers helped him off the field and Chesny Young came into the game to replace him. A Cubs official announced that Baez was evaluated for 'left hamstring tightness' after the game. He will get the day off on Friday and get treatment on the hamstring and hopes to return to game action on Saturday. Baez spoke to reporters after the game after the incident. "I'm completely fine, 100 percent," he said via Cubs.com's Carrie Muskat. "I got some treatment. The trainers were all over it (hamstring cramp) and everything is fine." This is wonderful news for the ballclub as it appears that Baez was just dehydrated and had a normal cramp and its nothing serious with the hamstring.
