Cubs News: Javy Baez receives his Heart and Hustle Award

'El Mago' has heart and hustle.

Javier Baez was the Cubs representative of the 2018 Heart & Hustle Award and was given the award alongside Joe Maddon during pregame of Friday's game at Wrigley Field.

“Javier plays the game with passion and determination every day,” said MLBPAA Chief Executive Officer Dan Foster. “He embodies all the qualities the Heart and Hustle Award represents.”

For the season, Baez is hitting .294 with 27 homers and 92 RBI.

The overall winner in the major will be announced on Nov. 8 in New York City.
