Joe Maddon on reports that Cubs might trade Kris Bryant, Willson Contreras

The Chicago Cubs have brought a large contingent of workers to the Winter Meetings to work towards bolstering their roster for the 2020 season.

One of the many reports out there is that they are open to trading All-Stars Kris Bryant and Willson Contreras if the price is right.

Reporters at the Winter Meetings asked Cubs manager Joe Maddon about the idea that the Cubs might be trading away their franchise player Kris Bryant.

"That I guess is the landscape of the game today," Maddon said via the 670 Score. "There was a time when it was important to begin and end your career with the same team. You look at Billy Williams and Ernie Banks, Ron Santo spending all or most of their careers in Chicago. It is part of the structure of the game from the top down. In the past, you never heard about the windows of opportunity for winning."

Maddon believes that the Cubs' core will continue to get better and win more games.

"When you talk about my guys from the Cubs, you are talking about some really good players," Maddon said. "It is kind of strange that you would hear about them being dealt at such an early point of their development. They are not done improving. They are all going to get better. My job was to make them better on the field and win games. These guys that you're talking about are really good players. So it is kind of weird to see these easily come and go now."

Maddon finished off by saying that "I love both of them" regarding Bryant and Contreras.
