This is not great news to report.

Cubs veteran ace Jon Lester left Monday night's game with the Brewers with an undisclosed injury in the top of the sixth inning.

He felt some discomfort after throwing a strike to Jonathan Schoop and the trainer along with Joe Maddon came out to talk to him. He stayed in for two more hitters that got hard hits on him as it was a chance for reliever to get ready and then he was pulled by Maddon.

In 5.2 innings, he gave up three runs on eight hits and two walks.

Hopefully, the injury wasn't very serious as he is very vital for the Cubs' chances down the stretch. CubsHQ.com will update you when we get word on his injury status.

Update: Cubs officials say he left the game with lower back tightness.
