This was somewhat expected.

MLB announced that Zach Greinke was selected to replace Cubs starter Jon Lester on the All-Star game roster.

Lester will not be available to pitch in Tuesday night's All-Star game at Nationals Park because he is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres. This is better for the Cubs that they use his arm towards a possible win instead of the exhibition game between the two leagues.

For the season, Lester has an impressive 11-2 record with 2.45 ERA in 18 games. His 11 wins are tied for most in the National League.

He was recently named the National League Pitcher of the Month for June and hasn't lost since May 23.
