Cubs News: Lester discusses his lower back injury

by - Senior Editor -

Cubs veteran ace Jon Lester left Monday night's game with the Brewers with a lower back injury in the top of the sixth inning.

In 5.2 innings, he gave up three runs on eight hits and two walks.

Lester spoke to the media following the 3-2 loss and said that he doesn't think the injury is too serious.

"I didn't feel it on one particular thing," he said. "I don't know if it happened when I swung and missed in the fifth inning. When I hit, I came back in and was fine and I went to stand up and it didn't feel all that great. I don't know if that was it, or Friday to today or what. I don't think it'll be anything that'll stick around. I think we'll be fine tomorrow."

Lester will be re-evaluated on Tuesday and hopefully, he won't miss his next scheduled start on Saturday.

For the season, he has a 15-6 record (3rd NL in wins) with a 3.57 ERA, 133 strikeouts, and 1.34 WHIP.
