Cubs News: Lester still bouncing wild throws to first base

by - Senior Editor -

Cubs veteran pitcher Jon Lester is one of the most successful pitchers during his major league career. However, his throws to first base are just plain HORRIBLE.

During Monday's game, he intentionally bounced a throw to the first baseman, and it was another wild throwing error for Lester.

Lester told reporters after the game against the Diamondbacks that he is practicing a specific bounce-pass routine this spring.

“We’re working on the Jordan-to-Pippen bounce pass,” Lester said. "In his words (infield coach), just eliminate all tension and bounce it over there,” Lester said. “We’ve been working on it early in the morning. Obviously, it was not a good throw, but my sights were a little off on what we’ve been working on."

Apparently, this is entirely mental for Lester, and hopefully, this type of throw will be practiced with Rizzo's blocking defense early and often.

Check out a video of his throw below.
