MLB extends administrative leave for Russell |
Major League baseball has extended
Addison Russell's administrative leave through the final game of the regular season on Sunday according to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal.
Russell has publicly denied the abuse allegations in a blog post by his ex-wife Melisa. "These allegations are completely false," he said in a statement. "I made that clear to Major League Baseball last year and reiterated it to the Cubs today. I'm confident any full and fair investigation will fully exonerate me. The protection of my children is foremost in my mind, so I will have no further comment." This is more and more resembling like a long suspension and a possible parting of the ways with the Cubs and Russell. Scott Boras and the union have decided not to ask for an emergency hearing that would have probably made this situation even messier.
