Cubs News: Maddon, Edwards ejected for arguing strike zone

by - Senior Editor -

Cubs manager Joe Maddon was ejected after arguing balls and strikes after a 2-0 count in the 8th inning.

Maddon had a few choice words with the home plate umpire Gabe Morales after he was ejected.

C.J. Edwards walked in the tieing run with the bases loaded after Maddon's dismissal. Edwards was ejected after his walk.

Earlier in the previous at-bat, Maddon and Edwards were upset after giving up a walk on a ball-call on a close 3-2 pitch to slugger Ryan Braun. It has been a wild strike zone for both teams throughout the day.

Regardless of what you think of Maddon, he sticks up for his players when he thinks he they are getting hosed by the umpires.

Steve Cishez came into the game in relief of Edwards to get a ground out and keep the score tied.
