PECOTA predicts Chicago Cubs to be a 2020 playoff team |
The Chicago Cubs are not going anywhere without a fight.
Even PECOTA thinks the North Siders have some upside in 2020 despite picking them last place last season. The website predicts the Cubs to win 84.5 games and has a 51.5 percent chance of making the 2020 postseason and has them projected as an NL wild card team. Furthermore, they have them with a 32.6 percent chance to win the NL Central (2nd place) behind the upstart Reds (86.1 predicted wins, 47.3 percent chance to win NL Central division). The Cardinals were projected third (80-82), Brewers fourth (79-83), and Pirates last (70-92) in the competitive division. So what do we learn from these projections? Not much except that the Cubs already have one it takes to make it back to the postseason if they play well. Time will tell. Let's play ball!
