Report: Cubs have interest in Dodgers reliever

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs are discussing different ways to improve their bullpen for the upcoming season and NBC Sports Chicago's Patrick Mooney reportsthat the North Siders might try to sign a player that help knock them out of the playoffs.

"To find a ninth-inning solution, the Cubs have identified options like converted starter/setup guy Brandon Morrow, who shut them down during the National League Championship Series and appeared in 14 of 15 playoff games for the Los Angeles Dodgers," Mooney said.

In 2017, Morrow had a 2.06 ERA with 50 strikeouts with only 9 walks (0.92 WHIP) in 43.2 innings. During the playoff series against the North Siders, he held the Cubs scoreless in his 4 2/3 innings of work.

Another reliever that the Cubs have interest in is free agent Addison Reed from the Mets. Of course, the Cubs will still check in with Wade Davis and see if they can make that contract work out too.
