by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon said during Friday's press conference that the team was still undecided on their game one starter against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS but it was between veteran righty John Lackey and lefty Jose Quintana.

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Cubs have decided to go with Quintana against standout Clayton Kershaw on Saturday night.

Quintana only had 12 pitches in his relief appearance on Thursday night against the Washington Nationals and it was on his normal bullpen session.

During the 2017 postseason, he has pitched 6.1 total innings giving up three hits, one unearned run, two walks, and seven strikeouts. Since joining the Cubs, he has a 3.74 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 14 starts.

In 2017, Quintana has an 11-11 record with 4.15 ERA with 207 strikeouts and 1.22 WHIP. For this career, Quintana has a 57-57 record with 3.53 ERA with 988 strikeouts and 1.24 WHIP.
