Cubs News: Ricketts family interested in purchasing AC Milan

by - Senior Editor -

The Ricketts family is one of the more wealthier families in the United States (2 billion net worth), and now they are looking overseas for their next possible sports investment.

According to multiple reports, the Ricketts family have expressed interest in buying a controlling stake of the popular soccer team AC Milan in Italy.

Current Milan owner Younghong Li is looking for a new partner or shareholder as UEFA FFP sanctions loom. He has until July 10 to pay a capital increase or lose control of the club.

Here is an email sent from a spokesperson for the Ricketts' family discussing interest in acquiring the soccer club.

"While Tom is the point person, the entire family and the family’s financial resources are involved in this matter, just like their ownership of the Cubs.

"The Ricketts Family brought a championship to the Cubs through long-term investment and being great stewards of the team, its ballpark, the fans and the city of Chicago. They would bring this same approach to Milan."
