Cubs News: Rizzo donates 150K to former HS, to be honored with Anthony Rizzo field

by - Senior Editor -

Anthony Rizzo is one of the good guys in the sports world.

Rizzo has done it again with his charitable endeavors with a 150K donation to fund new stadium lights for his high school alma mater, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (FL).

"I owe the first start of my career to those who taught me the fundamental baseball skills I needed to become the player I am today. Without the help of my coaches, I don't know if I would have had this much success, said Rizzo in a press release. "I am grateful for the support and encouragement they gave me when I needed it the most."

His former high school was badly in need of stadium lights because players could barely see when playing baseball games at night.

"When I heard the team needed stadium lights to help improve safety and play for the students, I immediately offered my help."

Great job by Rizzo giving back to the community that helped him be successful during his early playing days.
