Cubs News: Rizzo leaves game after fouling ball off foot

by - Senior Writer -

MILWAUKEE — In the top of the third of the Chicago Cubs' game versus the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo fouled a pitch from Brewers starter Wade Miley off his right foot. Although Rizzo finished the at-bat, he was in visible pain as he attempted to run out a ground ball and left the game thereafter.

Soon afterward, Rizzo underwent X-rays on his injured foot, which came back negative, as Rizzo suffered nothing more than a contusion. Of course, that is good news, as Rizzo should not have to miss substantial time with a contusion, as opposed to the lengthy injury layoff that would come with a fracture.
