Cubs News: Rizzo responds to Fowler moving wife's due date for him

by - Senior Editor -

Cardinals veteran outfielder Dexter Fowler still thinks of Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo as one of his dearest friends even though they are now on rival teams.

Fowler's wife Aliya explained on her Instagram account Monday that her husband wanted to reschedule her upcoming C-section due date because he wanted time to hang out with his buddy Rizzo that day.

"That's not gonna work for me (C-Section) because we play Chicago and I gotta see Rizzo," Fowler explained to his wife.

Rizzo heard about what his buddy did for him and had the following comments.

“That’s a good friend, that’s a good wife,” Rizzo said to the media. “You know, usually it’s happy wife, happy life, right? So I saw that and was laughing. Dexter and I have a special relationship, so whenever we see each other it’s special.”

Update: This story has an interesting twist as Fowler misunderstood the schedule and the Cardinals will be in Chicago to play the White Sox and the Cubs. It appears that the c-section will take place as scheduled and Fowler will miss a game or two with the South Siders.

This will be the second child for Aliya and Dexter.
