Cubs News: Rizzo scratched from lineup, may miss additional games

by - Senior Editor -

Not great news for Chicago Cubs fans.

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo has been scratched from tonight's lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers with lower back tightness.

Joe Maddon said the following about his injury before tonight's contest.

"He did a lot of extra hitting yesterday and that might have brought it on," Maddon told the media. "It's definitely a day to day kind of thing. Definitely, today, possibly (out) tomorrow, too."

Rizzo has been very durable the last few years with playing at least 155 games in each of the last three seasons.

For the season in 28 at-bats, Rizzo is batting only .107 with a homer and three RBIs.

Young catcher Victor Caratini will get the start at first base to replace Rizzo and will bat sixth in the batting lineup.
