Ross responds to possible Cubs coaching gig

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs have had a busy offseason with changes with their pitching coach, hitting coach, third base coach, and at their bench coach position.

Cubs bench coach Dave Martinez is reportedly taking the managerial job with the Washington Nationals so the Cub will be looking for another coaching role to fill.

Most fans think the obvious answer is former Cubs catcher David Ross who fits in well with so many of the current players on the roster and meshes well with manager Joe Maddon.

“Hard to see me jumping back in,” Ross told the Chicago Tribune. “Was a little busy this year and never got real time off.”

Ross is currently serving as a baseball analyst for ESPN, special assistant for the Cubs, and finally getting to spend some quality time with his wife and three kids.

Other candidates for the open position is former Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell and current Cubs first base coach Brandon Hyde.
