Cubs News: Theo Epstein on the latest with Ben Zobrist |
Where is Zo?
Veteran Chicago Cubs utility player Ben Zobrist has not suited up for the North Siders since early May, as he has been away from the team while working through a difficult divorce from his wife, Julianna. Cubs President of Operations Theo Epstein told reporters on Monday night that Zobrist's timetable should be set fairly soon for his return. "We are due to talk soon and maybe get a little specific about plans and timetables with things like that," he said. "I don't have anything for you guys." According to ESPN's Jesse Rogers, the target date for his return is around Sept 1. Theo on Zobrist: pic.twitter.com/9Luo6Yc2op Epstein said this previously about Zobrist's situation. "We expect him back later this year," he said. "We have sort of a soft understanding of when that might be, but I don't want to put a timetable on it or overly rely on it, either. I think we're all looking forward to having him back, if that's able to happen." Zobrist is batting .241 with 10 RBI in 26 games this season.
