NEW YORK — Putting the Chicago Cubs up 2-1 at Citi Field, second baseman Addison Russell hit a 2-run homer in the top of the fifth on Tuesday. The dinger off New York Mets starter Marcus Stroman followed a leadoff double by catcher Victor Caratini.

Swatting a 393-footer over the center-field wall, Russell collected his eighth long ball of the season. Russell made perfect contact on a cutter from Stroman and sent it flying off the bat at 30 degrees and 103 miles per hour.
