WATCH: Almora Jr. with go-ahead RBIs in 14th inning

by - Senior Editor -

It took forever but the Cubs got their third win in a row against the New York Mets.

Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr. smacked a two-run double in the fourth inning to score Willson Contreras and Kyle Schwarber to put the Cubs up 3-1. The North Siders ended up piling on four more runs including a Javy Baez homer to finish the game off at 7-1.

The six runs scored in the 14th inning was tied for fourth-most in that inning in the past 30 years according to ESPN Stats & Info.

"Coming into that last at-bat, when Schwarber got that base hit, I tried to psych myself up and said, 'I'm going to do this right now, I'm going to get this knock, I'm going to come through,'" Almora told MLB insider Carrie Muskat after the game.
