WATCH: Baez, Contreras combine for perfect pick-off play

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Padres got two runners on against the Chicago Cubs in the bottom of the second on Sunday. Trailing 5-0 at the time, the Padres desperately needed to incite some scoring action, but Cubs second baseman Javier Baez and Cubs catcher Willson Contreras combined to keep them scoreless.

With San Diego second baseman Jose Pirela on second base, Contreras caught him roaming too far off the bag and gunned a throw to Baez for a tag out. Known for doing the best glove work of any infielder in baseball, Baez applied a perfect tag on Pirela's hand to record the pick-off out.
