WATCH: Baez continues to wreak havoc on basepaths, scores from first base on Rizzo double |
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Chicago Cubs infielder Javier Baez has developed a knack for scoring from first base on routine hits by Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo. With the Cubs battling the Washington Nationals on Thursday, Baez hustled around the bases to score on a two-out double by Rizzo and put the Cubs up 1-0.
The two-bagger to right by Rizzo plated Baez with ease, as the throw toward the plate by Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper was not on the mark. Reading the hit to perfection, Baez never even looked at third-base coach Brian Butterfield for direction while motoring around third base and heading home. Rizzo garnered his 91st RBI on the play, and he has has now brought Baez home to score from first base three times in the past four games. There goes that man again pic.twitter.com/Ge4NVnwO2T
