WATCH: Baez golfs go-ahead homer vs. Cards |
'El Mago' might be the one to help the Cubs out of their current three-game losing streak.
During Saturday's game against the Cardinals, Javy Baez went down low on his swing and golfed a 0-2 pitch off of Ryan Sherriff near Big Mac Land in left field for the go-ahead homer in the sixth inning. KMOX's Mike Shannon described the homer in the following way. "It looked like a 2-iron shot. Of course, the way these guys hit it today, it could have been a 9-iron," he said. It was his 8th homer of the season and he seems very comfortable batting in the 8th position in the lineup. According to ESPN Stats & Info, it was his third homer of the season on a pitch out of the zone tied with Albert Pujols for tops in the majors. The Cubs are currently up 5-4 in the sixth inning.
