WATCH: Baez smashes solo blast to tie him for team lead

by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs second baseman Javier Baez smacked a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the seventh, making him 3-4 at the plate on the day.

Taking Cincinnati Reds reliever David Hernandez deep on a curveball thrown over the plate, Baez pulled the Cubs to within three runs in a 7-4 ballgame.

Traveling 396 feet to left-center, the home run increased Baez's season dinger total to 17, which makes him tied with Kyle Schwarber for the team lead. Baez also now has 62 RBI on the year. He is the outright team leader in that category.
