KANSAS CITY — Living up to his billing as Mr. Exit Velocity, hard-hitting Chicago Cubs third baseman David Bote crushed a triple off the wall in center field in his first at-bat of the Cubs' matchup with the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.

Marking Bote's first career triple, the three-bagger came with two outs and scored Ben Zobrist and Jason Heyward to put the Cubs up 2-0. Swinging at a first-pitch slider, Bote nearly hit the ball out of the park for a home run. The rookie infielder now has 13 RBI to his name.
