WASHINGTON, D.C. — Last month, Chicago Cubs rookie David Bote hammered a walk-off home run to defeat the Washington Nationals. On Thursday, Bote kept it in the park but still tallied a winning hit against the Nats.

Drilling an RBI double toward the wall in right-center, Bote scored Albert Almora Jr., who doubled in the preceding at-bat, to put the Cubs up 5-4 in the top of the 10th. The two-bagger came on a four-seam fastball thrown at the bottom of the strike zone by Nationals reliever Jimmy Cordero.

Chicago went on to win 6-4 in 10 innings, with Bote's lone hit of the night serving as the most important hit of the game.
