WATCH: Chatwood reacts to his demotion

Cubs pitcher Tyler Chatwood has been demoted to the bullpen after the trade for veteran lefty Cole Hamels.

Chatwood took the news well and discussed the situation to the media before Saturday's game against the Cardinals.

"Obviously, you never want that, but there’s some stuff I need to work out and this will give me the opportunity to do that.

I'm not going to lie, I've been grinding all year and it hasn't been fun grinding that hard. Luckily we've been winning games I've started and that eases it a little. I'm excited to get back to what I know I can be."

For the season, he had a 4-5 record with 4.98 ERA, 1.78 WHIP, and 82 strikeouts in 19 starts.
