WATCH: Contreras continues his dominance of White Sox, hits two-run home run

by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO — Coming into the Crosstown Classic, Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras sported a modest stat line of one home run and nine RBI for the entire season up until that point.

Now, in a span of two days and two games against the lowly Chicago White Sox, Contreras has increased his home run total to four and RBI total to 19.

Following his epic two-homer, seven-RBI showcase on Friday, Contreras was hard-pressed to live up to that performance on Saturday. But the Cubs' star backstop came close.

Driving in three runs on an RBI single and a two-run home run, Contreras devastated the White Sox pitching staff yet again.

The two-run dinger occurred in the bottom of the seventh as part of a three-run inning for the Cubs. Powering a 402-foot shot into the stands behind center field, Contreras took White Sox reliever Chris Beck deep on a four-seam fastball that never stood a chance.
