WATCH: Contreras hits line-drive homer that barely clears wall

by - Senior Writer -

CINCINNATI — Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras put the North Siders on the scoreboard against the Cincinnati Reds with a line drive that barely cleared the wall in right-center for a home run.

Taking Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani deep on a slider in the top of the second, Contreras made the score 2-1 in favor of the Reds. A replay review took place to confirm that the ball did indeed reach the bleachers, and the home-run call was confirmed by the umpires.

Marking the fifth homer of the season for Contreras, the long ball carried just over the top of the wall and into the seats. It traveled 373 feet at a low launch angle of 20 degrees and left the bat at 102 miles per hour.
