WATCH: Cubs bullpen goes nuts after Baez's 23rd homer |
CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs sensation Javier Baez tied his career high in home runs by jacking his 23rd homer of the year on Friday afternoon against the San Diego Padres. Smacking a four-seamer thrown by Tyson Ross to the opposite field, Baez drove a 382-foot solo bomb over the wall in right field during the bottom of the second. Naturally, the Cubs bullpen celebrated the long ball with raucous dancing.
With approximately two months of the regular season still remaining, Baez has already knotted up his previous career-high dinger total, which was set last year. Baez also has 84 RBI on the season, which is a career high, too. He is currently tied for seventh place in the National League in terms of home runs and has an outright National League lead in RBI. .@javy23baez matches his career high with home run No. 23! #EverybodyIn pic.twitter.com/AHHXIgZLim
