WATCH: Darvish falls down while running bases

by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO — What happens when a veteran American League pitcher taking part in his first full season as a National League pitcher is forced to bat? Feast your eyes.

With the second double (and third extra-base hit) of his career, Darvish led off the bottom half of the fifth inning versus the Milwaukee Brewers with a double to deep right. Rounding the bases at a snail's pace and with all the grace of a waddling penguin, Darvish seemed to think that he could somehow stretch the two-bagger into a triple.

Making a wide turn around second base, Darvish displayed his inexperience at running the bases when forced to reverse course and retreat to the bag. Slipping and falling, Darvish dropped his pride and bear-crawled back to second. Unfortunately for Yu, it was all for naught, as the Cubs suffered three straight outs thereafter, leaving Darvish stranded.
