WATCH: Heyward breaks up no-hitter with two-run single

by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO — Entering the bottom of the sixth on Friday, the Chicago Cubs were being no-hit by the Washington Nationals, but Nationals starter Jeremy Hellickson came unglued with two outs. After issuing three straight two-out walks, Hellickson was pulled in favor of reliever Sammy Solis.

Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward then stepped up to the plate and produced by hitting a screamer up the middle and out of the infield for a two-run base knock. Increasing his season RBI total to 48 with the single, Heyward broke up the no-hitter and, more importantly, pulled the Cubs even with the Nationals for a 2-2 score.
