WATCH: Heyward lays out for spectacular diving catch |
CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward showed out on the defensive end in the Cubs' matchup against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday. In the second inning, he made a sliding grab to prevent a Reds hit, and, in the sixth inning, he laid out for an incredible snow-cone catch.
Preventing one or more runs from scoring, Heyward, a five-time Gold Glove recipient, dove to his right to snag a liner from Jose Peraza in right-center. Coming with runners on first and second and two outs, the catch kept the score at 3-1 in favor of the Reds and saved the Cubs from falling into a deeper hole.
