CHICAGO — Coming out on top in a must-win game in terms of staying alive for the National League Central crown, the Chicago Cubs (95-67) defeated the St. Louis Cardinals (88-74) 10-5 on Sunday. Led by star first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who went 4-4 with three runs scored and one RBI, Chicago tallied 12 hits as part of a solid offensive showing.

The Cubs took control of the contest with an epic two-out rally in the third inning. Scoring four runs after drawing consecutive outs in the first two at-bats of the inning, the Cubs took the lead on a double by Rizzo and never relinquished it. With the Milwaukee Brewers (95-67) winning on Sunday, the Cubs will battle the Brew Crew at Wrigley Field on Monday for the rights to the divisional pennant.
