PITTSBURGH — In the third matchup of a four-game series between the Chicago Cubs (71-51) and the Pittsburgh Pirates (62-62), the Pirates finally got on the scoreboard after enduring two straight shutouts. Winning 3-1, the Pirates limited the Cubs to just one run for the third game in a row.

Veteran Ben Zobrist provided the Cubs with their only run of the contest. Hitting his ninth home run of the season, Zobrist went yard in the third inning as part of a 2-4 plate performance. Batting leadoff on the night, Zobrist was the lone Cub to accrue multiple hits.
