WATCH: Highlights of Padres versus Cubs, including intense bullpen dance session

by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO — With a crack of the bat, Chicago Cubs (64-46) left fielder Kyle Schwarber provided his club with an early 1-0 lead over the San Diego Padres (43-70) that quickly built into a 5-0 lead. Following Schwarber's 20th home run of season, which led off the bottom half of the second frame, the Cubs bullpen engaged in an even more intense dancing session than usual, featuring every reliever passionately performing in a different dancing style.

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo also homered in the second inning, sending a two-run blast high over the wall in center field to move him into sole possession of 11th place on the Cubs' all-time home-run list. Taking a 5-0 lead just two innings in, the Cubs were able to hold off the Padres the rest of the way, with Pedro Strop collecting the save for the second straight game to improve Chicago to 2-1 through three games of its four-game set with San Diego.
