WATCH: Ian Happ annihilates pitch for gargantuan 474-foot jack |
CHICAGO — Making a pinch-hit appearance, Chicago Cubs outfielder
Ian Happ, who was recently called up from the minors, hit a jaw-dropping home run out to right-center at Wrigley Field on Monday. The leadoff 474-footer against Oakland Athletics reliever Blake Treinen carried out onto Sheffield Avenue and put the Cubs up 3-2 in the seventh inning.
The go-ahead jack marked Happ's first dinger of the season with the Cubs, and it was arguably the most impressive home run of Happ's career. The solo bomb, which served as the longest home run of the year for the Cubs, was smoked off the bat at 109 miles per hour and boasted a steep launch angle of 32 degrees.
