WATCH: Javy Baez goes home to help youth in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricane Maria back on September 20, 2017, as many of the parks, baseball fields, and playgrounds were destroyed in the aftermath.

Chicago Cubs shortstop Javy 'El Mago' went back home to Puerto Rico during the offseason to help with LISC's Play Ball Again campaign.

"I am very excited to be here for the cause and the commitment to help this city of Puerto Rico," Baez said in the following video. "I was like one of the kids right here. I really enjoyed coming to a park, like this one from my community. Also, when growing up, there were many parks, without backstops and bleachers, or they were falling apart so bad, you could not play in them. That's why we are here; to fulfill the youth's needs."

The Cubs organization has helped with this project also as part of their Cubs Charities work.
