WATCH: Javy Baez with tomahawk homer in 14th inning

'El Mago' did it again.

Cubs second baseman Javy Baez didn't start Saturday night's ballgame as Cubs manager Joe Maddon decided to give him a day off against a tough starter in Jacob deGrom.

However, he finally got a pinch-hit opportunity in the 14th inning and didn't disappoint with a towering two-run homer to put the icing on a six run inning and the Cubs pulled away to a 7-1 win against the Mets.

Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr. told the media that they were giving Maddon a hard time for waiting so long to bring in Baez.

"We were yelling at Joe, 'You took that long to put him in? If he was going to do that, we would've been out of here a long time ago.'"

It was Baez's 14th homer of the season and it was his fifth career homer in the 12th inning or later, tied for fourth-most in MLB history with Albert Pujols and Jack Clark.
