WATCH: La Stella falls headfirst into stands, somehow makes catch

by - Senior Writer -

CINCINNATI — In the opening inning of the Chicago Cubs' matchup with the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, Tommy La Stella, who started for the Cubs at third base, made a play that could have possibly led to him telling fellow Cubs infielder Javier Baez, "Anything you can do, I can do better."

A few weeks after Baez pulled off an incredible catch while falling into the stands down the third-base line, La Stella made a similar catch. Tumbling headfirst into the stands near third base, La Stella successfully gloved a foul ball hit by Reds first baseman Joey Votto.

Leaving Votto beside himself as he helplessly watched at home plate, La Stella had his feet taken out from under him while leaning over the partition between the field and the seats but was able to stay focused and make the unbelievable catch for an out.
