WATCH: Murphy goes yard for second consecutive game with two-run bomb |
CHICAGO — Going yard for the second game in a row, Chicago Cubs second baseman Daniel Murphy powered out a two-run shot in the third inning on Saturday to put the Cubs ahead 3-0 over the Cincinnati Reds. Plating Ian Happ with the two-run home run, Murphy continued the hot start to his Cubs career.
Acquired by Chicago earlier in the week, coming into Saturday, Murphy had tallied multiple hits in all three of his games as a Cub, and, with Saturday's dinger, he has already gone deep twice while wearing a Cubs uniform. A 405-footer that went out to right-center, the two-run round-tripper marked Murphy's eighth homer of the season.
