WATCH: Murphy makes perfect contact on Cubs' second two-run homer of game |
PHOENIX — Making perfect contact with the sweet spot of his bat, Chicago Cubs second baseman Daniel Murphy swatted the Cubs' second two-run bomb of the night on Tuesday with the Cubs taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Providing Chicago with a commanding 5-0 lead in the top of the second, Murphy jacked his 11th long ball of the year.
With a seemingly effortless swing, Murphy sent a 86-mile-per-hour slider from Arizona hurler Matt Andriese 395 feet in the right-field bleachers. The dinger, which scored center fielder Ian Happ, sported an exit velocity of 100 miles per hour and was part of three-run inning for Chicago. Cubs infielder Javier Baez previously hit a two-run shot of his own in the first inning.
