Weather update for Friday's Cub-Nationals game |
Tonight's game between the Cubs and Nationals has been delayed due to rain and thunderstorms in the area.
Both teams only have one off-day the same (9/13) for the rest of the season so they will probably try to fit this game in tonight regardless of the time. It might end up being a long night. CubsHQ.com will keep you updated when we hear of tonight's new start time and when the tarp is off the field. Saturday update: Saturday's doubleheader begins at 2:05 p.m. CT and the second game will start 45 minutes after the first game. Update: 9:18 pm CT - -The game is still under a delay. Nationals posted the following message -- Inclement weather is still over the ballpark. Because the Cubs do not return to Nats Park this season, we are awaiting a decision from MLB regarding the resumption of this game. Thank you Nats fans for your patience. Update: 6:53 pm CT -- The tarp is coming off the field and the new start time is 7:25 pm CT. It should clear out within an hour or so but seems kind of late to pick up a game in the 2nd inning. Waited this long though Rain is coming down in sheets. Thunder is drowning out conversations. And scheduled game time less than 20 minutes away. So we're about a half hour from game time and it's still pouring and the tarp is still on, so I feel safe saying this game will not start on time. The start of tonight's #Cubs game will be delayed due to inclement weather.
Nats official: "Attention, media. The game is currently delayed by inclement weather."
