Weather update for Thursday's Cubs vs. Braves |
The start of Thursday night's Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves game is officially in a rain delay according to Braves officials.
"Tonight’s game will be delayed due to incoming weather," Braves posted on social media. "We will keep you updated as we have more information." 6:34 pm CT update: Just started raining and the tarp is being put on the entire field. 7:44 pm CT update: Rain still coming down hard. 8:04 pm CT update: Rain slowing down but tarp still on. The Braves officials will monitor situation until 8:30 pm CT to see if conditions are playable. 8:45 pm CT update: The Braves video board just said that they will continue to monitor the situation. The pitchers have not started their warmups as both bullpen mounds are currently covered. Cubs will have Lester on the mound (3-1, 2.66 ERA) against lefty Max Fried (0-2, 6.00 ERA). Lester is 5-1 in his six career starts in Atlanta and also sports a career 2.47 ERA against the Braves. The game will be televised tonight on WGN-TV, MLB Network (out-of-market-only), and MLB.TV. Cubs not thrilled this is a night game, btw. Getaway day. Was told something re day games here during the week. Parking or traffic a problem.
