Fox announced the 2016 World Series television ratings for game seven, and it was the most watched baseball game in 25 years. The thrilling Cubs 8-7 victory had an audience of 40 million people on pins and needles until the final out.

The overnight rating (25.2) was also the best Fox baseball broadcast since game seven of the World Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Yankees in 2001.

The Cubs-Indians series was a 66% improvement over last year's World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals.

Finally, an incredible 71% of the Chicago households watched the game.
